Services We Provide
24 Hour Crisis Hotline
BATP operates a 24/7/365 crisis hotline for victims of sexual and domestic violence. Trained staff provides crisis intervention, safety planning, referrals, and access to agency services, as appropriate. Callers are also provided community resources to meet their need as their situations are evaluated and assessed by trained staff. The agency’s hotline is the gateway to all other services including non-shelter, counseling and shelter services.

Shelter Services
BATP Shelter is a safe haven created for survivors of sexual and domestic violence. Our shelter can house up to 72 adults and children. Every individual and/or family is granted an initial 30 day of emergency shelter stay with the opportunity to apply for an extension if more time is needed. Shelter services aim to support both individuals and/or families with their daily basic needs. There are many programs directly within shelter to assist clients with their road to recovery in living a violence free life to include our Children Services Program, Food Program, Counseling and Case-Management services. Specifically within shelter there is a Laundry Facility, Locker Room to hold clients’ personal possessions, Family Room where clients can enjoy a movie or board games, Library where clients can enjoy quiet time with a book or crafting activities, and a Childcare Center.
Food Services
BATP’s Food Services program is a basic needs service offered to all shelter clients. Each client in shelter is provided daily 3 nutritious, well balanced meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner along with 3 snacks. Menus are posted for clients to choose if they would like to partake in the meal for the day or make alternate arrangements. We have a cook on staff that prepares all meals with the voluntary help of clients that complete a kitchen orientation. Our food services program operates from a yearly budget funded by government grants and donations from the community.
Children Services
The Children’s Services program at BATP provides services for the most fragile of those impacted by sexual and domestic violence. Within the Children’s Services program we have an on-site childcare facility located at shelter to assist parents with childcare options while they work on goals to assist with their transitions to self sufficiency. The childcare program offers a daily schedule and lesson plans for all children who partake. It is the mission goal to create a real life learning environment for all who attend. Our Children’s Services program also provides a Learning Center within childcare where school age children are able to obtain homework assistance, tutoring and educational resources. Within the program, we also assist families with the school enrollments, educational needs, parent teacher meetings and various other resources to help both the child and parent on the road to a violence free life.
Case-Management Services
BATP’s case management services are offered to our shelter based clients on a weekly or as needed basis to assess their needs. Clients work one-on-one with staff to connect with resources within the agency or community organizations to assist with their recovery needs. Our caseworkers assist survivors with various barriers while enrolled in services to include their emotional, physical and mental health needs. Working with clients on these issues allows them to address the barriers before transitioning out of shelter to independent living. Wrap around services are essential and offered to each client while residing in shelter. Caseworkers also provide weekly classes such as Job Readiness, Life Skills, Financial Literacy and Parenting Classes.
Advocacy
BATP’s Advocacy Services assist clients who are enrolled in our non shelter services and are seeking recovery from abuse. Victim Advocates, assist clients with obtaining legal and community wide resources to meet their individual needs. Advocacy services include education of victims’ rights, assistance filing for charges and protective orders, support in emergency and non-emergency accompaniments, and referrals to legal/social service providers. Through advocacy services, clients are able to connect with many supportive services to include case management, individual and group counseling and housing services as needed.
Counseling
Counseling services are offered to adults and children enrolled in shelter and non shelter services that have been directly or indirectly affected by sexual and domestic violence. Our Counseling Services program offers individual and family counseling as well as therapeutic support groups. We offer these services to allow our clients to heal from the unfortunate victimizations and traumatic experiences. We work with survivors who have range of victimizations from childhood to current day. Our goal is to equip them with the coping skills and interventions needed to heal throughout their journey.
Chambers County Counseling/ Advocacy Services
Our Chambers County satellite office is an extension of our main office providing counseling services and advocacy work for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Chambers County counseling services work progressively with both adults and children to meet their mental health needs. Services are provided at our satellite office, local schools such as Anahuac and Barbers Hill ISD, or via telephone/ Skype. Chambers advocacy work stretches into many different areas of helping survivors. We work hard to help clients with protective orders, police reports, SANE exams, financial aid, food, clothing, and support throughout the entire road to recovery from their situations. Survivor services have proven to be a critical need for rural areas such as Chambers County and BATP is constantly evaluating and working to meet the need.
Housing Options
BATP Housing Services provides short and medium term rental and financial assistance to victims of sexual and domestic violence who are fleeing abusive situations seeking safe permanent housing options. Clients have the option to work with a caseworker to address challenges and barriers that may affect their ability to be self sufficient. Clients directly work on securing benefits, employment needs, financial budgeting, problem solving and connecting with community resources and support networks. Housing client are also able to access all agency wrap around services to include counseling and advocacy needs to assist with their short and long term goals of achieving self-sufficiency.
Outreach, Education & Prevention
BATP’s Outreach, Education, and Prevention (OEP) Program engages with social groups and clubs, schools, faith-based and community organizations and stakeholders to bring awareness regarding sexual and domestic violence issues. Through this program we are able to offer onsite and virtual trainings, attend and host community fairs and outreach. The OEP program also conducts curriculum based prevention programs for youth within the community regarding topics of healthy relationships and boundaries.

Because appointments fill up quickly, please let the hotline advocate know if you have an issue that requires a quick response from a Victim Advocate. The Hotline Advocate will try to connect you with a Legal Advocate immediately.
